It has been a busy month with the introduction of new staff, players, volunteers and committee members.
First off, we welcome Kevin Ashwood who James Mapstone brought in as his new Co-Manager for the first team. Kevin brings with him a team of local players and volunteers who’ve all made a great impact on and off the pitch since joining us in late October.
When James joined us in January, his remit was to build a local team that could both compete and take the club forward again. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but progress is being made and for the first time in a long time, there is a real buzz about the place as we saw yesterday with a 90+ crowd, cheering us on as we secured a point with a late equalizer against FC Stratford, who currently sit 10th in the league.

Now competition for places is building, which isn’t just great for the First Team. It means that we are starting to strengthen both our Reserves and Development Team’s, which is good for the club in general.
It’s not all great news, however. Sadly our former Treasurer Gary Walters stepped down after being with the club for many years. Gary not only looked after our accounts, but he did all those jobs around the club which often nobody else wanted to do but were essential for keeping the club running.
Needing a new Treasurer, and quickly, we were delighted when Luke Derham agreed to return to the Sods. Luke has been our Treasurer in the past and brings with him an impressive professional track record in managing finance, risk and data.
That is probably enough for now but stay tuned as there is plenty more news to come over the next few months as volunteers are still coming on board and taking up new roles in the club.
We thank you for your support.
